Sitcom Script Swap

Between my increasingly time consuming day job and miscellaneous writing projects, I have fallen way behind on script reviews.  If you’ve sent me something to read and I haven’t gotten back to you, please know that I will do my best to eventually get to it.  You’re welcome to send me angry emails to help motivate me.

Once I’m caught up with life, I’ll throw the offer back on the table to swap scripts, but I’m not quite sure when that will be.

There are some other good places to find free feedback.  Check out http://www.scriptwritersroom.com/ – There are forums where you can find people to swap with and get some decent feedback.  Also, if you’re on twitter, check out the hastag #tvwriterchat – you may find some swappers through that as well.

Evan and I swapped scripts. He gave some invaluable feedback on my pilot. He’s fair, honest, and encouraging with his notes.

Imagine you are a prehistoric creature who can’t find food because of some famine or drought or something terrible, and then a T-Rex comes along and is like, “Whoa. Hey. Let me help you maul this pterodactyl and then we can share its meat.” You’d be like, “Yes. I want to do that. Cool.” That’s what swapping scripts with Evan is like. You look out for his script, and he looks out for yours. Excellent feedback, great ideas (and not just “I didn’t like it. Fix it.” But, “This could use some improvement. Try this…”) and at the end of the day, you’re both eating ancient bird meat. Nice. I hope to do it again, and soon.

P.S. If you’re afraid to script swap, pony up $20 and register your masterpiece with the WGA. No one wants to have unprotected script swaps.
